Amble RNLI’s lifeboat station shop opens for business
The RNLI’s Amble lifeboat gift shop is set to reopen this weekend (12 April) for business as the station gears up for the forthcoming busy visitor season.
Run by a team of volunteers the popular shop on the Radcliffe Quay offers customers and RNLI supporters the perfect gift or souvenir, with all profits helping to save lives at sea.
Volunteer Boat Guides, subject to availability, are on hand to show people around the lifeboats including the lifesaving charity’s all-weather Shannon class lifeboat (ALB) 13 - 16 Elizabeth and Leonard (ON 1323).
Homewares, clothing, tasty treats, toys, greeting cards and much more are among the many popular items on sale.
Shop manager Margaret Douglas said the RNLI relies on volunteers to keep its shops open.
She added: ‘The lifeboat station is always a popular destination for Amble visitors and holidaymakers, so we’re delighted to be open again for business for the 2025 season, serving customers and showing them around the lifeboats. We’re always grateful for people’s support and by buying gifts, customers are making an invaluable contribution to the RNLI and helping to saves lives at sea.’
Shop opening times are Wednesday – Sunday 10:30am to 3:30pm but can be subject to change. If people are planning a special trip, they should phone ahead on 01665 714952 to confirm and make arrangements.
