The group, based in Golf Green Hall is an amateur dramatics group that put on a show once a year for the local community, and nominate a charity to donate to.

Sindy Roast, representative of the group said “We are here today to present a cheque for £350 to RNLI Clacton to help them continue with the good work they do in saving lives at sea. Our group who meets every Monday put on a show for the people in and around Clacton every year and nominate a charity to donate to. This time we chose RNLI Clacton. Our next show is on Saturday 18 October 2025, so why not look us up on Facebook, our page is named ‘New Footlights’.

Press Officer, Mark Walsham says “We would like to thank everyone at Footlights for their generous donation. It is the support from the local community that allows us to continue to save lives at sea and we thank you for your continued support.”

The presentation took place at RNLI Clacton’s mini open day on Saturday 19 April, where the lifeboat station community opened our doors to our supporters and wished our Atlantic 85 lifeboat ‘David Porter MPS’ a farewell as it launched for the final time before passage to a new lifeboat station.

Remember to stay safe this summer on and around the beaches of Clacton. Check the tide times, weather forecast, let others know where you are and take a personal floatation device with you. Find out more by visiting the RNLI website for more tips.
