Lymington RNLI mud rescue
On Sunday 27 April at 3.05pm the pagers of the Lymington lifeboat crew sounded to reports of a woman stuck in the mud on the Isle of Wight shore.
The crew made best speed and quickly established the location of the casualty in Bouldner Bay, to the east of Yarmouth Harbour. Two crew members were dropped ashore to make a medical assessment and free the casualty.
After finding the casualty to be in fit condition, only a hand was needed to free her from the mud. HM Coastguard rescue teams from Needles and Ventnor arrived and assisted in the long walk back to the road. All rescue assets were then stood down and made ready for the next call out.
James Douch the Helmsman said: 'The casualty called the coastguard for help soon after the accident, this gives rescue resources more time to establish a plan and is 100% the correct course of action.'
Helm: James Douch
Crew: Simon Naylor, Asher White and Ollie Jansen
