Lowestoft RNLI lifeboat was called at 3.05pm on 29 April 2025 by HM Coastguard to go to the aid of the vessel which was heading for Lowestoft.

Coxswain John Fox said we soon launched our lifeboat ‘Patsy Knight’ and located the 38ft cruiser near the North Newcombe buoy. The two people on board immediately told us that they were safe and they had already extinguished the fire and were able to proceed using their other engine.

We escorted the vessel as it limped the short distance to Lowestoft harbour and moored unaided in the trawl dock

There Coastguard rescue teams, fire crews, police and ambulance teams were waiting.
