Kirkcudbright RNLI lifeboat assists with cliff fall rescue
Kirkcudbright RNLI lifeboat was launched at 4.30pm on Friday 1 August, 2025.
The Kirkcudbright RNLI Atlantic 85 lifeboat Sheila Stenhouse was requested by HM Coastguard to an injured person who had fallen at the cliffs at Burrow Head.
The rescue was also attended by Pirsac, Port William, HM Coastguard and Coastguard Helicopter from Prestwick.
When the Kirkcudbright RNLI lifeboat arrived on scene, the volunteers were requested to land crew members on shore. This was to help the helicopter paramedic place the casualty in a stretcher. The volunteer crew then assisted with the winching operation. After the casualty was safely in the helicopter another non injured person was then taken to a safer position and handed over the care of HM Coastguard cliff rescue team.
The volunteer crew members then returned the lifeboat to the station to be made ready for next service.
