Two call outs for Angle RNLI

Lifeboats News Release

Angle all-weather lifeboat was requested to launch 5.02pm on Saturday 2 August, to a 11.6m motorboat with four people aboard with mechanical issues near Sheep island at the entrance to the Milford Haven waterway.

The lifeboat arrived on scene at 5.24pm and with the vessel adrift and without any means of propulsion, it was decided between the lifeboat coxswain, the boat owner and HM Coastguard that the safest and best course of action was to take the vessel in tow.

A tow was rigged and the vessel was towed upriver towards Hobbs Point. Arriving off Hobbs Point at 6.39pm, the casualty vessel was transferred into an alongside tow and placed safely alongside the pontoon. With no further assistance required the lifeboat was released and arrived back at station at 7.15pm.

Earlier in the week on Tuesday (29 July), Angle all-weather lifeboat was requested to launch to a Rigid-Hulled Inflatable Boat (RHIB) with one person abord and taking on water just off Gelliswick Beach. As the crew were preparing to launch, a local safety boat responded and escorted the RHIB back to the beach. With the RHIB back safely ashore the lifeboat launch was cancelled.
