Determined young Jack raises over £1,000 for RNLI Seahouses lifeboat station
A young fundraiser has blown us away and made waves among the RNLI crew at Seahouses. Jack Roberts, a tenacious youngster with a heart the size of the North Sea, has donated an incredible £1,066.25 to support the lifesaving work of the station.
Jack’s love for the RNLI began three years ago when a visit to Seahouses Lifeboat Station introduced him to the vital work of saving lives at sea. Inspired, Jack decided he wanted to give back. What started as filling a jar with 5p coins quickly grew into a year-long mission involving family, friends, school events, and even strangers he met while cycling.
Last weekend, Jack personally delivered his donation to the station, accompanied by his proud family. Hugh Fell, a Volunteer Lifeboat Launch Authority( LA) at Seahouses, welcomed them with open arms. Jack was treated to an exclusive tour of the station and got up close with their heroic lifeboat.
Hugh Fell, Seahouses volunteer Launch Authority, said, 'Jack is nothing short of brilliant. Seeing someone so young raise such a significant amount is beyond inspiring. Jack’s hard work, his school’s initiatives, and his family’s commitment have shown what’s possible when a community comes together. We’re incredibly grateful and proud to have Jack as part of our RNLI family now!'
The funds Jack raised will go straight back into supporting the RNLI’s vital, volunteer-led mission of saving lives at sea - whether that’s keeping lifeboats and equipment in top condition or providing critical crew training.
Jack’s message to everyone? 'Even small actions, like saving a 5p, can make big things happen when everyone chips in. I never thought I’d raise so much!'
RNLI Seahouses is buzzing with gratitude for Jack and his unstoppable determination. It’s the perfect reminder of how the power of one can inspire a whole community.
