Eyemouth RNLI in action

Eyemouth RNLI Lifeboat Station has a long and varied history. Originally established in 1876, the lifeboat station is located in Gunsgreen Quay and currently operates a Shannon class all-weather lifeboat and a D class inshore lifeboat. In 2024, the lifeboat station launched 22 times, saving 2 lives.

The station is now on the lookout for a new volunteer lifeboat operations manager who will carry out the day-to-day management of the lifeboat station to ensure a permanent state of readiness for service.

The volunteer will provide leadership for the operations team and ensure that all operational activities are carried out to maintain the lifeboats and all associated equipment are in a constant state of readiness for launching on service.

The role has a tenure of 3 years, which can be extended to a maximum of 9 years. The successful applicant will be a team player, a good communicator and display leadership skills.

A local maritime knowledge is desirable, as well as a knowledge of the RNLI, but is not essential as full training will be provided.

The individual must live or work within 10-15 minutes of the lifeboat station and be able to attend the station on a regular basis. You must be aged between 18 and 70 years of age.

As well as full training on operation decision making and volunteer management, the successful applicant will gain management experience leading a diverse team in a dynamic volunteering environment and gain the satisfaction of making a difference in the local community by saving lives.
