RNLI Clacton ILB Lifeboat launched to 3 persons in difficulties on Jet Ski

The volunteer crew launched their ILB (Inshore Lifeboat) ‘D849 Damar’s Pride’ at 16:38 making safe speed to the last reported location, and shortly after launch was updated to report the casualty vessel was in the Bateman’s Tower area.

Upon arrival at the location, the jet ski had beached in an area approximately 25m away from the closest water access point. A crew member immediately attended to the three casualties and performed a welfare check and was able to report that everyone was well, if slightly cold.

The volunteer crew worked with the owner of the jet ski and formed a plan whereby one of the three casualties boarded the ILB and was taken ashore to the care of family waiting family members. The crews then located and retrieved the jet ski anchor and returned to the remaining two casualties.

Once the jet ski was safely anchored, the crews then transferred the remaining casualties onto the ILB and back to the shoreline, around Point Clear. Once confirmed that all casualties were safe and well, the crew informed the HM Coastguard who then stood the crew down.

Our volunteer crews then commenced the passage back to RNLI Clacton at 17:46 arriving back to the station where the lifeboat was recovered, cleaned and placed back onto active service.
