When most people get a break in their work schedule, they may go on holiday or perhaps spend some time relaxing at home. However, not Shoreham RNLI's volunteer shore crew member Dan Fagg, who, when faced with a few weeks off work, decided he could put the time to good use and raise money for the RNLI.

Dan has set himself the challenge of cycling 160 miles from Selsey Bill near Chichester to North Foreland near Margate. Fans of the inshore weather forecast may recognise this as inshore weather area 6. Along the journey, which will take around two days and begins on Sunday 10 August, Dan will call in at each of the 14 RNLI stations, where he's hoping to collect a memento to mark his journey.

Dan said: "The RNLI is, frankly, a thoroughly good thing, and as a 100% publicly funded charity it needs people to give their help and support. In Shoreham RNLI's 160th year there is so much to celebrate, and I wanted to help raise money for the charity I'm so proud to volunteer for. It will be the longest distance I've ever cycled, and although I am slightly worried I won't be able to sit down again for a while afterwards, it will all be worth it to raise money to help save lives at sea."

Although Dan has set himself a fundraising target of £160, we're sure he can beat that. If anyone would like to sponsor Dan, they can visit his JustGiving page at www.justgiving.com/page/daniel-fagg-1753350096645?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=CL

All money raised goes towards the amazing work of all our volunteers in saving lives at sea.
