Volunteers at Hunstanton RNLI were paged just after 5pm on Sunday, 10 August, after reports six people were trapped on Scolt Head Island around four miles from the station.

Hovercraft Hunstanton Flyer was quickly on her way with three crew on board.

On arrival, they established four had made their own way to safety, while a further two people had been helped ashore by a paddle boarder.

After carrying out a sweep of the area to check that no-one else was in difficulty, the hovercraft returned to station.

After arriving at around 6:15pm, the craft was washed down, checked over and refuelled by the shore crew ready for her next service.

Editor's Notes

Hunstanton lifeboat station operates the fast inshore lifeboat Spirit of West Norfolk and the search and rescue hovercraft Hunstanton Flyer.

Like more than 200 RNLI crews around the coast of the UK and Ireland, their lifesaving work would not be possible without the kindness of those who donate to the charity that saves lives at sea.
