On Wednesday 6 August 2025, volunteer crew from Pwllheli RNLI joined CHPSC Clwb Hwylio Pwllheli Sailing Club members and Plas Heli berth holders for a special charity ride from Pwllheli to Abersoch, raising funds for Bryn Beryl Hospital as part of the Mark Southee Charity Run.
The RNLI’s inshore D-class lifeboat the Robert J Wright launched to accompany the group along the Pwllheli shoreline, joining RIBs from Plas Heli. Together, the afloat participants raised £140 for the cause, with all proceeds going directly to support the hospital.
The event formed part of the wider Mark Southee Charity Run, where supporters walked or ran the equivalent distance. The RIB ride offered a unique way to contribute while celebrating Pwllheli’s strong maritime community spirit.
Pwllheli RNLI Chairman Gerallt Williams said:
‘It was fantastic to see our volunteers taking part in such a positive community event, while raising money for an important local cause. We’d like to thank everyone who took part and donated – and a special thanks to our RNLI crew, on shore and afloat, who gave their time freely.’
