Tenby lifeboats in early morning search for person in the water

Tenby’s inshore lifeboat was requested to launch at around 1.40am on Monday 11th August, after a request from Dyfed Powys Police to assist in the search for a person possibly in difficulty in the water off Tenby’s North Beach.


The volunteer crew were quickly on the water and on scene a minute later, where they began a shoreline search, whilst the Police and Coastguard searched ashore. At this point, the all-weather lifeboat was also requested to launch and assist in the search.

A short time later, news came through that the person was now thought to be ashore, but that a vessel had been reported to have gone aground off Tenby’s South beach, so the inshore lifeboat was tasked to investigate. As it was no longer required, the all-weather lifeboat was stood down just as it was preparing to launch.

As the lifeboat was arriving on scene, the owner was making his was towards the boat and with assistance, managed to refloat his vessel and return it its mooring in Tenby’s North bay.

With nobody else reported in difficulty, the lifeboat was stood down to return to station, arriving at 03:10am.
