Bundoran RNLI crew launched to assist injured casualty at Bundoran beach
The volunteer crew of Bundoran RNLI were requested to launch today at 3:55pm following reports of an injured casualty at the diving boards area of Bundoran beach.
The Bundoran inshore lifeboat launched under the command of Helm Rory O’Connor, with crew members Elliot Kearns and Owen Murphy onboard. On arrival, the crew found the casualty in the care of Donegal County Council Lifeguards, along with Bundoran Fire Brigade and the National Ambulance Service. Due to the restricted location, the casualty was transferred by boat to a safe area for further medical attention.
Speaking after the call out, Bundoran RNLI Helm Rory O’Connor said:
`We would like to wish the casualty a speedy recovery. I would also like to thank our fellow emergency service colleagues for their swift response and teamwork — they provide a vital lifeline to our local community. On Sunday, 24 August, at Bundoran Lifeboat Station and Bundoran Pier, from 1pm to 4pm, we will be holding an Emergency Services open day where the public can come along to meet all the emergency services, explore the lifeboat, and see first-hand the incredible work that happens locally.`
With an increase in temperatures over the past couple of days, RNLI want to remind the public to always bring a means of calling for help and, if you see someone in difficulty, dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coast Guard.
