The Inner Wheel kindly selected the RNLI as their chosen charity for 2024/2025 and raised an incredible £7,703 to support 12 lifeboat stations across the Scottish coast.

The 12 lifeboat stations are: Kinghorn, Anstruther, Broughty Ferry, Arbroath, Montrose, Stonehaven, Aberdeen, Peterhead, Fraserburgh, Macduff, Buckie and Kessock – the local stations around the coast which border our clubs.

The cheque was presented by Jean Hale, Immediate Past District Chairman of Inner Wheel District 1, to Spencer Harris, Community Manager for the RNLI in Scotland, at a coffee morning she hosted at her home in Forfar on 13 August for members of her own club, Forfar Inner Wheel.

Jean Hale, said: ‘The last 12 months have been busy and action packed, but we’re delighted to have raised an incredible £7,703 for the RNLI in Scotland. As an RNLI fundraising volunteer myself, I know first-hand how beneficial this donation will be to supporting the incredible lifesaving work at the 12 lifeboat stations across the Scottish coast.’

The funds have been raised by the 17 Inner Wheel Clubs which make up this Inner Wheel District here in the North East of Scotland. A huge geographical area which spans from Nairn on the Moray coast to Dunfermline on the Forth and from Stirling in the west to Aberdeen in the east. Each club decided on their own individual fundraising schemes – from quizzes, coffee mornings, fish & chip suppers, craft sales and barbeques. The members also engaged with the RNLI by inviting speakers to many club meetings and taking up the opportunity to visit a lifeboat station in recent months. Friendship and service are key aspects of Inner Wheel and the ladies have certainly surpassed all expectations with their fundraising efforts for the RNLI.

Spencer Harris, Community Manager for the RNLI in Scotland, says: ‘I would like to express my warmest thanks to the Inner Wheel for choosing the RNLI as their chosen charity for 2024/2025, and for this incredibly generous donation. This donation will help support 12 lifeboat stations from Kinghorn to Kessock to save even more lives at sea.’
