
Southend-on-Sea RNLI Mulberry Harbour fun run is back Sunday 14 September 2025
We are pleased to announce the Southend RNLI Mulberry Fun Run is returning on Sunday 14th September 2025 join us for the return of the very popular event and raise vital funds for Southend Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).
Have you ever fancied a walk/run out towards the Mulberry Harbour . . . well now you can! This is the perfect opportunity to venture out towards the Mulberry Harbour in a safe and controlled environment.
The route is approximately 3.5km long, with two opportunities to shorten the route for those who do not wish to complete the entire course. We have a route for everyone, and participants are free to complete the route in their own time.
Daniel Wanna Southend RNLI Event Manager said: ‘We’re absolutely thrilled to bring the Southend RNLI Mulberry Fun Run back after a year away. This event means so much to our community and it’s wonderful to see the enthusiasm from everyone involved. We have 1,200 spaces to fill and we know that every single one of them will be taken!
‘A heartfelt thank you to all our volunteers, organisers, supporters, and, of course, the runners and walkers taking part on the day. Your energy and generosity help keep our lifesaving work afloat — quite literally!’
The fun run will start from approx. 10:20am (subject to tidal conditions).
All participants will need to ensure they have the following:
· Appropriate footwear (following the guidance issued in the welcome pack)
· Clothes which you don’t mind getting dirty & wet
· Sip, Slop, Slap - Bring plenty of water, slop on that sunscreen and slap on a hat - we have pre-ordered the sun, so fingers crossed it arrives on time!
A full information pack will be sent to you shortly after completing the sign up process, containing specific timings, where to park, what to bring, what you need to do when you arrive and more.
Please note, throughout the course there are multiple sections of water which you will pass through. The deepest is approximately 10-15cm deep. Note, we may alter the course on the day for your safety.

**This event is open to all ages although under 12’s must be accompanied by an adult. Those between the ages of 12 and 16 need permission by a parent/guardian and must have an adult present for the entire duration of the event. Those over the age of 16 can participate unaccompanied.

Funds raised will go towards the running of Southend RNLI Lifeboat Station, part of the charity that saves lives at sea.
It costs around £438,000 a day to run the RNLI all of which is generously donated by the public. This means a modern fleet of lifeboats and highly trained volunteer crews are ever ready to go to a rescue from 238 lifeboat stations around the UK and Republic of Ireland.
