Tenby lifeboats requested to assist Ambulance and Fire Service with medevac

Lifeboats News Release

Both boats were requested to launch shortly after 1pm on Saturday 16th August, following a request from the Welsh Ambulance Service and West Wales Fire and Rescue to assist with the medevac of someone that had been injured on rocks at Giltar.

The volunteer crew were on scene within minutes, but due to the surf that was going into the rocks at Giltar, it was deemed unsafe to try to extract the casualty by sea.

With members of the Coastguard rescue team also now on scene to provide extra man power, a plan was devised to get the casualty up the cliff to safety.

With the lifeboats unable to assist and further, they were stood down to return to station.
