Tenby inshore lifeboat assists after person get stuck nearly 100ft up cliff

The inshore lifeboat was launched shortly before 6.30pm on Friday 22nd August, after the Coastguard received a report that somebody was stuck 35 metres up a cliff at 2nd Point in Tenby's North Bay after being cut off by the tide and attempting to climb to safety.

The volunteer crew were on scene within minutes, but they could be of no assistance due to the height that the casualty was stuck at and with Tenby and St Govans Coastguard teams also unable to get access from above, helicopter assistance was requested.

A short while later, a Coastguard rescue helicopter was overhead and after assessing the situation, a crew member was lowered to the casualty, before winching him off the cliff while the lifeboat provided safety cover from below.

The casualty was then landed at the campsite above and the lifeboat returned to station, arriving at 8.10pm.
