Launching with a compliment of volunteer crew, the lifeboat made the best possible speed towards the reported position of the casualties, between Porth Iago and Porth Widlin.

While in transit, more details were received that a member of the public on the local coastal path had been observing the paddleboarders and noticed that they were struggling with the flowing tide and being carried up the coastline.

A search was commenced when nearing the position and both paddleboarders were located near Porth Colomon. Skilfully manoeuvring the lifeboat as close as possible to the casualties, the paddleboarders confirmed that they no longer required any assistance. The lifeboat crew then remained on scene observing the paddleboarders get ashore safely before commencing their journey back to station.

While on route back to Porthdinllaen, a further request was received from the Coastguard that reports had been received of two kayaks in difficulty near Porthdinllaen Point.

Arriving on scene within 10 minutes of being alerted, it was noted by the station's shore crew that both kayakers had managed to navigate safely back to the calmer waters of Porthdinllaen Harbour - and that the lifeboat's services were no longer required.

The lifeboat returned to its station where it was washed, refuelled and made ready for service.

Keneth Fitzpatrick, Porthdinllaen RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager added:

'We advise anybody that the ventures to sea to be aware of the weather and local tidal conditions and to ensure that they carry the correct safety equipment with them. Thanks to our partner agencies today for all their assistance.'
