The coming days take them to stations at Portree, Stornoway and Leverburgh.

On arrival, Helen and Allan Thornhill met local volunteers Janet Lange, Graeme Hogg and David Mitchell photographed here with the Atlantic 85 Inshore lifeboat James and Helen Mason in the boat shed.

Allan and Helen explain their fundraising story as “The 238 lifeboat stations of the RNLI create a ring of safety around the coasts of the UK and Ireland. To commemorate the 200th anniversary of the RNLI and to raise much needed funds to save lives, we are visiting all 238 stations”.

Earlier in the summer they announced, “We have reached our first fundraising target of £2380… enough to kit out an Inshore Lifeboat crew member with their vital protective clothing and other equipment”.

Independent from any Governmental support, the RNLI is dependent on donations to support operations. The Thornhill’s tour gathers much appreciated support for the charity that saves lives at sea.
