Rescue 151 Helicopter lifts injured person from Nest End rocks south of Eyemouth

The casualty, a member of the Eyemouth Coastguard team, injured his leg while fishing at the Nest Ends, south of Eyemouth harbour. Eyemouth’s inshore lifeboat ‘Sheila’ was quickly launched, and the crew assisted the Coastguard teams and paramedic with Casualty care.

Due to the low tide and the difficult location, the lifeboat was unable to evacuate the casualty safely, and as a result Rescue Helicopter 151 from Inverness was requested. Once the helicopter arrived, the casualty was winched into the helicopter and taken near to the waiting ambulance, where he was taken into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.

Eyemouth Coastguard said, ‘This incident is a strong reminder that accidents can happen to anyone — even those trained to respond to them. It also highlights the importance of having the right equipment, training, and teamwork in place to respond effectively when it matters most.’
