West Kirby RNLI to feature on BBC Two’s Saving Lives at Sea
The volunteer lifeboat crew of West Kirby will take to the small screen on Thursday 4 September when they feature in episode 6 of BBC Two series Saving Lives at Sea.
Now in its tenth season, Saving Lives at Sea showcases the courage of RNLI lifesavers throughout the UK and Ireland as they respond to everything from sinking ships to tidal cut-offs and from kayakers in distress to people caught in rip currents, just seconds away from drowning.
This week’s episode sees the West Kirby crew rescue three individuals who had been cut off by the tide on Little Eye on Valentine’s Day, alongside other rescue stories from around the coastlines of the UK and Ireland.
Chris Gatenby, Helm at West Kirby RNLI, said:
‘By thunder, we finally made it onto the box!
‘Tune in to your favourite lifeboat crew as they make their debut onto the small screen this Thursday 4 September. You will be able to see, in glorious HD, our crew describe one of our many gripping shouts in detail.
‘The local community has always been hugely supportive of our station and we’re grateful for the generosity we receive. We’re delighted to feature in this series and showcase our work - and maybe even a few familiar faces!’
