Southwold RNLI preparing for Annual Lifeboat Day
Southwold RNLI volunteers are busy preparing for their Annual Lifeboat Day, to be held on Saturday 9 August.
Lifeboat Day is a summer highlight for our dedicated volunteers—a chance to showcase their lifesaving skills, raise vital awareness, and generate support for the RNLI’s mission.
This year’s demonstration kicks off at 11am, with Southwold’s Atlantic 85 lifeboat, Annie Tranmer joined by Aldeburgh’s Atlantic 85, Ralph, and the RNLI beach lifeguards.
The display takes place just off the seafront and can be viewed from either the promenade or the clifftop near the Sailors’ Reading Room. A PA system will provide live commentary and updates throughout the event, bringing the action to life for spectators.
As always, our beloved mascot Stormy Stan will be making an appearance to delight younger visitors and pose for photos throughout the day.
Following the demonstration, the Lifeboat Station will open its doors to the public. Crew members will be on hand to answer questions, offer guided tours, and invite guests to view both Southwold and Aldeburgh lifeboats up close.
Visitors can also enjoy a tea and cake sale, and enter a raffle featuring fantastic prizes including vouchers for local eateries and an original artwork by renowned local artist Andrew Pitt.
Southwold RNLI shop volunteers will be running a popup stall outside the lifeboat station throughout the day and the shop on Queen Street will be open 10:00-16:00."
Southwold RNLI is currently recruiting for several volunteer roles. If you’re passionate about supporting lifesaving efforts and getting involved in your community, this is a great time to join the crew, roles include, shop staff and fundraisers, for more information contact Rebecca Whyte, [email protected]
