All-weather lifeboat Norah Wortley tows casualty vessel

Launching just over 10 minutes later at 6.20pm, the calm sea conditions saw the volunteer crew arrive quickly on scene.

The 28 foot motorboat with two people on board had launched from Porthclais harbour but gearbox issues had left the boat without propulsion. A local recreational vessel from Voyages of Discovery had stood by the stricken boat until the lifeboats arrival.

With the vessel unable to move and close to cliffs, the coxswain decided the best course of action was to tow the boat back to Porthclais harbour.

As it is not possible to safely navigate the all-weather lifeboat into the harbour, it was fortunate that off duty crew member Robin was at sea in his own boat and was able to complete the tow of the casualty vessel safely ashore.

Lifeboat and crew were back at station at 7.40pm.
