Beaumaris RNLI volunteers tasked twice to a jet ski aground in the Menai Strait.
On Friday 11 July 2025 at 4.59 pm the volunteer lifeboat crew from Beaumaris RNLI were tasked to investigate a report of a jet ski aground around Penmaen Swatch in the Menai Strait.
After further consultation with H.M Coastguard the lifeboat launched to check on the well-being of the jet ski rider especially in view of the hot conditions. The Beaumaris RNLI Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat Annette Mary Liddington proceeded to the reported location of the craft.
Once on scene a volunteer lifeboat crew member went on to the sandbar, but it was not possible to refloat the craft until the next incoming tide.
The sole occupant aboard the jet ski elected to stay with the craft pending the incoming tide about 8.30 pm. He was left with a supply of water and some sun tan lotion by the lifeboat crew meanwhile the coastguard would monitor him from the shore.
At 8.30 pm the lifeboat volunteers relaunched to ensure that the Jet Ski was operational and escort him back to the shore.
A RNLI spokesperson said: ‘the ‘informant ashore did the correct thing in alerting the Coastguard to the situation. This meant our volunteer lifeboat crew were able to reach the casualty quickly, assess the situation and discuss the options available to the occupant of the craft’.
