Newquay RNLI launch to 17ft speedboat experiencing engine failure

At 7.10pm on Friday, 11 July Newquay volunteers were paged by Falmouth Coastguard and requested to assist a speedboat reported to be in difficulty in the Gazzle, Newquay Bay.

The charity’s Atlantic 85 was launched and quickly located the vessel, on arrival the lifeboat crew could see the crew of the 17ft speedboat using ours to stop their vessel hitting the rocks.

Lifeboat volunteers quickly rigged a tow line and towed the vessel into a safe area where an alongside tow was established, once the rig was secured it was towed to the safety of Newquay Harbour.

The Atlantic was made ready for service and crew left the station at 8.07pm.
