Beaumaris Lifeboat tasked to a yacht with engine failure at Llanddwyn.
At 4.52 pm on Sunday 13 July 2025 the volunteer crew members of the Beaumaris lifeboat received a launch page from H.M. Coastguard relating to a yacht with engine failure near Llanddwyn.
The Beaumaris Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat Annette Mary Liddington with her volunteer crew launched and in calm weather conditions proceeded to the vessel.
Having ensured that all was well with the crew aboard. an assessment was made by the helmsman in consultation with H.M. Coastguard as to the best course of action to be taken. It was decided in case the wind strength and direction changed then for safety reasons that the boat should be towed to the nearest place of safety.
Consequently the lifeboat towed the boat to Caernarfon Pier where members of the Bangor Mobile Coastguard team had arrived to assist.
Once this had been completed the lifeboat was released by the coastguard to return to her station.at Beaumaris returning at 7.27 pm to be refuelled and cleaned. Once this had been completed the crew left the station.
A RNLI spokesman said: ‘The yacht crew did the correct thing in alerting the Coastguard to their predicament. This meant our volunteer lifeboat crew were able to reach the casualty quickly, assess the situation and take the best course of action to prevent the situation worsening.’
