Clovelly RNLI prepares for programme of summer events
Volunteers at Clovelly Lifeboat Station are getting ready for a busy few months, with plans for a Lifeboat Day and sponsored swim to raise funds for the lifesaving work of the RNLI.
Lifeboat Day will take place on Sunday 3rd August and will be a whole day of celebrations on Clovelly Harbour, starting at 11am and running through to approximately 4pm. The day will feature lifeboat displays, live folk music and sea shanties, historic vessels, games and entertainment, a BBQ, vintage clothing stall, and a live charity auction. The Red Lion will also be open on the harbour serving drinks and food. Normal entry fee to the village applies, and a portion of proceeds - as well as all profits from sales of select beers - will be donated to Clovelly RNLI.
Later that month, on Sunday 31st August, the station will be open once again for the Clovelly Sponsored Swim, which will see scores of swimmers descend on the village to complete a two-mile course from the slipway towards Bucks Mills and back again. This popular event takes place every year and is one of the station’s biggest fundraising events. There are still a few places left, visit this link to register if you’d like to take part: https://tinyurl.com/58fpzcs8
As well as these major dates, the station will be open regularly for tours and visits throughout the summer months. To check times or to arrange a private tour please contact [email protected].
