Montrose RNLI opens its doors for family-friendly Open Day
Montrose RNLI is delighted to announce that it will be opening its doors for an exclusive Open Day on 23 August 2025.
Visitors are encouraged to join the local RNLI volunteer crew for a fun-filled family day on 23 August, where they can experience the lifesaving work of the RNLI and other emergency service agencies in the local area.
For those eager to explore Montrose RNLI's remarkable assets, the volunteer crew will be offering tours of the all-weather lifeboat, Ian Grant Smith, renowned for its incredible life-saving capabilities. Visitors will have the chance to explore inshore lifeboat, Margaret Olive, getting a closer look at the essential equipment used in life-saving missions.
Among the agencies attending this special occasion are the Scottish Fire Service and HM Coastguard. Each agency will showcase their essential contributions to public safety, offering an incredible opportunity for the public to learn more about their work.
Refreshments and cakes will be available, as well as a BBQ run by the local crew. There will also be the opportunity to 'soak the crew', raffles, bottle stalls, an appearance from our Stormy Stan and much more.
Montrose RNLI fundraisers will be selling RNLI merchandise in the charity's shop and all funds raised will aid the RNLI to continue its mission to save lives at sea, 24/7, 365 days a year.
The RNLI community engagement teams will be driving a recruitment campaign as the station have several open volunteer vacancies at Montrose RNLI Lifeboat Station. They will be on hand to discuss all the open vacancies with anyone who is interested in learning more on how they can support their local station.
The RNLI is not a government agency and operates entirely on charitable contributions, making the Open Day an excellent opportunity for the public to understand the vital role they play in safeguarding lives along the coast.
Montrose RNLI says: 'We are thrilled to host this Open Day and welcome families and community members to discover the invaluable work of the RNLI and our partner agencies. It's a fantastic occasion to meet our dedicated lifeboat crew, learn about vacant volunteering opportunities, and experience the equipment and boats used during life-saving operations.'
Join Montrose RNLI for this memorable event on 23 August and celebrate the efforts of the RNLI and our fellow emergency service agencies.
