Stunning running fundraising for RNLI Tighnabruaich

Lifeboats News Release

Two of our local volunteers have signed up to run the Kyles 10 Miles on 13 September in support of the RNLI explaining “we both volunteer in our local RNLI shop and at fundraising events, but saw this as another way of raising funds for this vital charity”.

Jane Sadler and Sue Philp are both keen dog walkers and had run in the past. The setting up of a local running group gave opportunity for their intention to get back into the habit and, as the only participants one week, decided to support each other to keep training going.

Sue had the long-range target of the Kyles 10 Miles in mind and the notion of fundraising was also considered. At an RNLI fundraising committee meeting this spring it suddenly became a reality, and the pair have been training on sections of the course, encouraging each other through ups, downs and less favourable weather.

Their training has also enhanced appreciation for the area viewing the route around the local coast on foot rather than from a car. Realising “wow, this is stunning” Jane reported makes managing the longer climbs easier. As an independent charity, the RNLI is dependant on donations and fundraising to support its lifesaving work as the charity that saves lives at sea.
