Have you got what it takes to save lives at sea in Buckie?
Buckie RNLI is calling on members of the local community to consider volunteering as crew members or fundraisers to help save lives at sea in Buckie.
Volunteering with the RNLI offers a unique opportunity to make a real difference in your community. Whether that’s raising vital funds for the charity through local events and collections, or by crewing the Severn-class lifeboat, William Blannin.
As the charity that saves lives at sea, the RNLI relies on a network of dedicated volunteers to power its lifesaving service – and the team at Buckie RNLI Lifeboat Station is no exception. The station has a proud history of service since 1860 and is currently looking to expand its team by recruiting new volunteer lifeboat crew and fundraisers.
There are a wide range of roles available within the RNLI, from operational positions such as lifeboat crew, to fundraising and community engagement roles. No previous experience is necessary, as full training and support are provided.
Anne Scott, Lifeboat Operations Manager at Buckie RNLI, said: “Volunteering with the RNLI is a unique and rewarding experience. We’re looking for committed individuals who want to make a difference in their community and help save lives at sea.”
To volunteer as lifeboat crew, applicants must be over 18 and under 55 years of age, physically fit, and live or work close to the station. Volunteers should be able to commit to regular training and be available to respond to callouts when the pager sounds.
Michael McGregor, volunteer crew member at Buckie, said: “Joining the RNLI has been one of the most fulfilling things I’ve done. The camaraderie, the training, and the chance to help people in need - it’s something really special.”
The station is currently recruiting for these vital volunteer roles and encourages anyone interested to visit www.rnli.org/support-us/volunteer/volunteering-opportunities and search for ‘Buckie’ to explore opportunities and apply.
