
RNLI Penlee rescue two persons in distress
Just before 1pm on 29 July 2025 Falmouth Coastguard tasked the RNLI’s Penlee Lifeboat to Carne Beach after receiving reports that two persons were in distress.
At 12:45 Falmouth Coastguard diverted the lifeboat to Carne beach after receiving reports that two persons were in distress in the sea between Portloe and Gerrans, Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat was also tasked. Under the command of Coxswain Patch Harvey and four RNLI volunteers the lifeboat headed towards the beach at full speed and quickly located one person on a paddle board and one person in the sea, both requiring assistance after getting into difficulties due to the brisk offshore wind, they were lifted onto the lifeboat and wrapped in blankets to warm up.
Although cold the casualties did not need further medical treatment, Falmouth Inshore lifeboat now on scene came alongside Penlee Lifeboat, the two casualties were transferred to the Inshore lifeboat and taken to Carne Beach, Porthoustock Cliff Rescue Team were in attendance on the beach to give further assistance.
Penlee Lifeboat released with thanks, continued on its course back to Newlyn arriving at 3pm. After re fuelling and a wash down the lifeboat was ready for service at 4pm.
