Through their partnership with the RNLI, Scania UK are supporting the RNLI through fundraising activities across its UK business, and they continue to supply the RNLI’s vehicles, which use Scania Power Solutions engines. These include the RNLI’s Shannon Class all-weather lifeboat and the Shannon Launch and Recovery System (SLARS) that are stationed around the UK, and the volunteer crew at Bridlington RNLI are privileged to have these.

Earlier this year, Bridlington RNLI were visited by Scania UK, with a Scania 770S truck that had previously featured on the BBC Top Gear programme. The visit was to capture not only the three Scania UK powered vehicles together, but also to commemorate the sale of the truck with only 12000 miles on the clock.

The Scania 770S has been purchased by an avid Top Gear fan, with £25,000 of the sale donated to the RNLI. Our partners, Scania UK, who only last year agreed a multi-year partnership with the RNLI, have been fundraising for the RNLI ever since.

Lucy Parker, RNLI Partnerships Manager, said: 'Since coming aboard as a partner in 2024, our relationship with Scania UK has strengthened, as they continue to support our efforts to save lives at sea.

We are excited to continue working together, to deliver on our operational requirements and raise vital funds towards our work.’
