Two of the visitors were Reiss (seven) and Lucas (nine) Tate, who brought with them a bucket of loose change to donate to the station. On counting up the small change it came to a total of £34.17.

Mum, Amy Wheeler explained: ‘We live locally and are often down at Calshot enjoying the watersports on offer. Reiss and Lucas have saved all the small change that they have accumulated from days out and decided to donate it to Calshot RNLI.’

Calshot RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager, Mike Atwell added: ‘We are incredibly grateful to Reiss and Lucas for their generosity, as a charity we rely on donations to allow us to continue to save lives at sea in across our patch. Maybe one day in the future they may be equally inspired to come and join us as volunteer crew!’

The Open Day raised a total of £1480.00. The next big event is the Annual Raft Race which will once again be held at Hythe Marina on 24 August.
