Early Morning Page for The Lizard Crew

Lifeboats News Release

An early call for our crew as their pagers sounded at 6.25am following a launch request received by our duty Launch Authority from Falmouth Coastguard.

The Lizard RNLI

Under the command of Coxswain Phil Woodcock and 6 crew members, RNLB Rose launched on service and proceeded to a position of 400meters south of Coverack Harbour. Our tasking was to assist a 10-meter single handed yacht which had become entangled in static fishing gear rendering it completely immobile.

Upon arrival on scene shortly before 7am a thorough assessment was carried out of the situation, and it was quickly confirmed that the casualty was in no need of any medical assistance. One lifeboat crew member was then transferred on to the yacht to assist the occupant with freeing the vessel. Once the obstruction had been cleared our crew member stayed on board the yacht whilst the occupant checked for propulsion, repositioned and anchored in the bay.

RNLB Rose was then stood down to return to her station at Kilcobben Cove, arriving there at 8am where she was rehoused and made ready for service again when required.
