Every year the Lytham St Annes lifeboat crew and supporters attend both the Lytham and the St Annes Remembrance Day parades and services in November, at the respective cenotaphs in Market Square, Lytham and in Ashton Gardens, St Annes.

While they have a standard used for many years at the Lytham commemoration, on this one occasion in the year, Remembrance Day, when the crew are split between the two cenotaphs in Lytham St Annes, there was no standard to use at the St Annes service.

The 2024 / 25 Mayor of Fylde Council, Councillor Karen Henshaw, generously stepped in to provide a second standard for the lifeboat station from the charity fund from her year in office.

The new standard was officially presented by Councillor Karen Henshaw, a long time supporter of the RNLI, to the Station Chairman, Digby Moulden, at a small ceremony at the All-weather Lifeboat House on South Promenade on Thursday 29 May, with many of the crew in attendance.

This new flag has the revised RNLI logo which shows the image of His Majesty The King’s crown on it. Of course the older flag has Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's crown depicted, but this will still be used for ceremonial occasions when required.

Digby Moulden, Chair of the Lytham St Annes RNLI Branch said:

'We’re absolutely thrilled to have a new standard, with His Majesty's crown so it's a huge thank you to last year's Mayor, Karen Henshaw.

This will also enable us to have the standard present at both the Lytham and St Anne’s Remembrance services in November.'
