While hauling lobster pots the crew had deployed their anchor to stop drifting closer to shore and a local charter vessel responded to the Pan-Pan call and secured a rope which held the vessel until the lifeboat arrived.
Coxswain Patch Harvey, with six RNLI volunteer crew, decided the safest option would be to tow the vessel to the nearest safe harbour.
Penlee took over the towing duties in a westerly 4 and a slight sea, and towed the casualty into Newlyn harbour where the lifeboat was washed down , re-fuelled and made ready for service at 2pm.
