Successful Otter Ferry Family Fun Day for RNLI Tighnabruaich

Lifeboats News Release

The local volunteer fundraising team along with local businesses organised a great afternoon on Saturday 4th June and variable weather did not dampen the fun. Acres of cakes, mountains of burgers alongside events and competitions, had something for all family members including four legged friends.

Volunteer lifeboat crew of the James and Helen Mason were able to make an appearance and shared the jetty with Cowal Cruises who supported the event providing tours of nearby islands on Loch Fyne. Games and a treasure hunt entertained the children and the rosettes at the dog show were soon being shown off by proud pooches. With sales of burgers, langoustine, RNLI merchandise, boat tours and cake, a grand total of £1472.82 was made.

Local fundraising chair Janet Lange noted contributions from Team Oystercatcher, Alastair Barge, Crossroads Pet and Garden along with everyone who baked and donated their time to make the event possible. Janet expressed “many thanks to everyone who braved the four seasons we experienced, and the local bakers and volunteers who came out in force”.

The support of all who came and took part was just as crucial as the charity depends on fundraising and donations to support all operations. Lifeboat shore and boat crew combined their attendance with some local knowledge and navigation training, before returning to the station and preparing for next service.
