The volunteers at Port Erin RNLI Lifeboat are preparing to formally welcome their new inshore lifeboat on Saturday 12 July 2025.

The naming ceremony will be held the Port Erin Breakwater close to the lifeboat station when volunteer crew and their families will be joined by RNLI supporters and colleagues from neighbouring lifeboat stations to celebrate the arrival of the new lifeboat and to formally accept the vessel into their care.

The ceremony will include a service of dedication conducted by Reverend Colin Barry of Arbory and Castletown Parish and musical support will be provided by Rushen Silver Band. The boat will be handed to members of Neil Crowe's family by a representative of the Gough Ritchie Trust, the donors, for the official naming.

Further details of this generous donation and chosen name will be shared following receipt of the boat, currently expected to be delivered on the evening of 23 June 2025.

Opportunity: The naming ceremony of Port Erin RNLI Lifeboat’s new Atlantic 85 class lifeboat Neil Crowe. Film and photograph the ceremony and interview members of the lifeboat crew and other RNLI supporters. The lifeboat will give a brief demonstration launch following the ceremony.

The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea. Its volunteers provide a 24-hour search and rescue service around the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland coasts.
