Oban Lifeboat responds to becalmed yacht with engine failure
Oban Lifeboat launched on service, yesterday evening (Sunday), following a request from Stornoway Coastguard to assist a yacht that had suffered engine failure and was becalmed at the South end of the Sound of Kerrera.
With no other vessels in the immediate vicinity to assist the yacht, and the risk of the yacht being pushed ashore by the tide, the volunteer crew of the relief Shannon class lifeboat 30-21 decided to tow the vessel to Oban North pier pontoons where repairs to the engine could be carried out.
