Enniskillen RNLI assist three people during two separate call outs
Enniskillen RNLI assisted three people during two separate call outs on Friday night last (2 May).
At 7.51pm, Belfast Coastguard requested Enniskillen RNLI’s inshore lifeboat to launch following reports that a 36ft boat with two people onboard was drifting. Visibility was good at the time with a wind force of 2 and a westerly breeze. The crew located the casualty vessel in the vicinity of Devenish Island and after an assessment, it was found to have had electrical failure. The crew decided the safest option was to tow the vessel to a safe location where it would be moored overnight.
On their return to station, the Coastguard requested assistance following a report that a 32ft boat was reported to be drifting. The crew located the casualty vessel and were on the scene at 11.08pm. They found one person onboard the casualty vessel which had sustained mechanical failure. The anchor was deployed but vessel was still drifting. The crew assessed the vessel and deemed it necessary to tow it to Tory jetty, where it was moored overnight.
Speaking following the call outs, Enniskillen RNLI Helm Paul Keown said: 'We were pleased to help all three people tonight and to help ensure those using our waterways are safe and well. Remember, if you see someone in trouble on the water or are in difficulties yourself, call 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard.'
