Angle RNLI assist yacht south of Grassholm Island

Lifeboats News Release

The crew were paged at 3.23am this morning to assist a lone sailor onboard a 7.6m yacht south of Grassholm Island.

The vessel was experiencing engine difficulties and having broken down hours previously, the lone occupant was becoming exhausted.

The lifeboat launched and arrived on scene with the casualty vessel 35 minutes later. After an assessment of the situation and due to the engine problems and risk of the situation worsening with an exhausted occupant, the safest course of action was to pass a tow and assist the vessel to safety.

After a tow lasting around 3 hours, the lifeboat arrived off the entrance to Milford Marina and an alongside tow was rigged to take the casualty vessel into the lock.

After locking in and leaving the vessel safely alongside, the crew were stood down and returned to station and the lifeboat was readied for further service by 8.45am.
A big thank you to the Lord Nelson Hotel for the bacon rolls on our arrival at the marina.
