The Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat was launched at 10.38am in a strong south westerly wind and a moderate sea state. The volunteer crew located the casualty vessel at 10.49am.

There were no persons on board and to avoid any risk to other vessels the crew established a safe tow and the yacht was taken to a temporary mooring at South Caernarvonshire Yacht Club.

The lifeboat left the scene at 11.24am and returned to the station at 11.35am where the lifeboat was washed down, refuelled and left ready for service by the volunteer shore crew.

If you do get into difficulty, or spot someone else who appears to be in trouble, don’t hesitate and call 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard.

A spokesperson for Abersoch RNLI said, ‘You should ensure that your vessel is adequately secured to its mooring each time you leave it as weather conditions can quickly change’. They added, ‘If you need any advice on securing your boat to a mooring we would recommend that you contact one of the local boatyards or Abersoch Moorings who will be able to give you the best advice’.
