Teddington RNLI Thanks Teddington Community for Support

The event saw the Teddington community come together with Teddington Traders to enjoy a day which included a duck race, food from local restaurants as well as RNLI volunteers, water safety demonstrations, a human fruit machine, London Fire Brigade and much more.

Around 2,000 people visited the lifeboat station to see how the volunteer crew works to keep people safe in and around the Thames from Richmond Lock to Molesey Lock and sometimes beyond. They were also given an understanding of the education and water safety advice that is a daily part of the work undertaken by RNLI volunteers.

‘Matt Allchurch, Lifeboat Operations Manager at Teddington said, ‘We have been blown away by the support of our local community. The duck race, organised with Teddington Traders, was our first and was a great success and we’re grateful for the support of local groups such as The Rotary Club as well as Ruba, Shambles, The Wharf and The Anglers. On behalf of all our volunteers and the RNLI charity, I would like to thank everyone who bought a ticket or came along on the day. This support is vital to keeping the lifeboat station open and allowing us to serve our local community. Thank you Teddington, here’s to next year’s open day and duck race.’
