Final chance to sign up for RNLI Buoy to Beacon Swim Run in St Agnes in Cornwall
RNLI issues final call for entries to take on the RNLI’s Buoy to Beacon Swim Run challenge!
Taking place on Saturday 13 September, the challenge will see participants race across one of Cornwall’s most picturesque coastal landscapes, all in support of the charity’s lifesaving mission.
Starting at Trevaunance Cove in St Agnes, participants will take on a 1,000m open-water swim out to the marker buoy and back. From there, they will transition straight into a demanding 5km run, ascending the iconic St Agnes Beacon before descending back to the cove.
All participants are asked to set up sponsorship pages to encourage friends, family, and colleagues to donate. Every pound raised will contribute directly to the RNLI's vital work in preventing drownings and rescuing those in peril along our coasts, supporting the charity’s lifeguard service and volunteer lifeboat crews.
Esther Farrant, RNLI Community Manager and organiser of the event, said: ‘The Buoy-to-Beacon Swim-Run is more than just a physical challenge; it's a chance to connect with our incredible coastline and directly support the lifesavers who keep us safe.
‘Every stroke and every step taken by our participants reflect the sponsorship funds that help ensure our volunteer crews have the training and equipment they need to answer the call, day or night.’
The event is proudly supported by the St Agnes Surf Life Saving Club, who will also be hosting a BBQ at Trevaunance Cove; a well-earned reward after a morning of swimming and running.
Participation for this event is £30 (£24 for Under-18's) and everyone is encouraged to pledge to raise additional money through sponsorship.
