A yacht had gone aground with a crew of two aboard; the Coastguard requested the lifeboat undertake a welfare check to ensure all was well with the craft and occupants.

Upon arrival a lifeboat volunteer transferred to the boat and ensured that all was well with the occupants, who elected to remain on board pending the vessel re-floating on the next incoming tide. An anchor was deployed and the yacht sails taken down and made weather secure in view of the conditions.

Once this task was completed, the lifeboat was released by the Coastguard to return to station, arriving back at Beaumaris Lifeboat Station by 12.32 pm to be refuelled and cleaned. After which some of the volunteers could then continue with the Casualty Care course they had been participating in.

A RNLI spokesperson said: ‘This was an example of the cooperation between the lifeboat volunteers and the Coastguard’.
