The volunteer crew launched the D class inshore lifeboat Lady Barbara at Greenfield slipway just after 11pm with crew of four. They made their way towards the TSS Duke of Lancaster (a former railway steamer passenger ship that is beached at Llannerch-y-Mor Wharf near Mostyn Docks, on the River Dee) searching whilst on their way.

Once on scene, the crew spoke to HM Coastguard and were asked to perform a search up and down the river between Duke of Lancaster and Greenfield, while also making their way towards the middle of the river. Whilst West Kirby lifeboat were performing a similar search on the other side of the river.

The Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 936 also joined the search to perform their own search pattern whilst working alongside the lifeboat crews with any points of interest.

At around 1.15am after an extensive search in challenging conditions, with the weather and tide and nothing found, the crew were asked to stand down.
