Two calls outs for Angle RNLI Lifeboat
Angle RNLI Lifeboat crew were tasked twice in one day on Thursday 11 September.
The vessel, with two people aboard, was on passage from Ireland and had entered the Haven under sail. The crew were attempting to find a safe anchorage to carry out engine repairs but were hindered by challenging conditions—winds gusting 35–40 mph and sea states up to 3 metres.
The lifeboat launched shortly after the page and located the yacht near the South Hook LNG terminal. Following a quick assessment of the situation, a tow was established, and the yacht was taken under tow toward Milford Marina. Once off the marina entrance, an alongside tow was set up, and the vessel was safely brought into the marina and secured to a pontoon.
With no further assistance required, the lifeboat returned to station and was back on the jetty by 7.30 am
Later the same day, the lifeboat was requested by the Coastguard to carry out a welfare check on a yacht anchored at Warrior Way, close to the Cleddau Bridge. Concerns had arisen after attempts to make contact via VHF radio were unsuccessful as there was concern the yacht may have been dragging anchor and at risk of drifting ashore.
The lifeboat proceeded upriver and arrived alongside the vessel at approximately 1.34 pm. After speaking with one of the crew members aboard the yacht, it was confirmed that they were content with the anchor holding and happy with their position and required no assistance.
The lifeboat was stood down and returned to station, ready for further service by 2.30 pm
