The lone yachtsman was on a mooring in Poole Harbour and was suffering severe pain from a medical condition.

Arriving on location near Ham Park, two crew were put aboard the yacht to carry out an assessment.

The volunteers gave the casualty pain relief before preparing them for evacuation ashore.

The casualty, in wet and windy conditions, was taken onboard the lifeboat to Poole Yacht Club and was handed over to an ambulance crew to receive onward care.

Poole lifeboat then returned to station as winds were increasing and gusting up to 40 knots.

The lifeboat was re-fuelled and ready for service at 5:30pm.

This was the 102nd launch this year for Poole lifeboat station.
