Volunteer award for former Hartlepool RNLI coxswain

Former Hartlepool RNLI coxswain Robbie Maiden was presented with the BBC Radio Tees Make a Difference volunteer award at the Globe Theatre at Stockton-on-Tees on Saturday evening.

Robbie who has been a volunteer for over 40 years with the charity and is now a deputy launch authority at the Ferry Road lifeboat station said 'It was a a brilliant night and everyone who was nominated deserved to win.
Thanks to film director Franc Roddam for choosing me in the volunteer category.
It was also a great privilege to meet Ann Ming, the lady who changed the double jeopardy law and Anne Fine the writer of Mrs Doubtfire and a special thanks to everyone at BBC Tees who made it a night to remember.
But as always I must say a special thank you to my 'RNLI family'.
Whatever we do as volunteers is a team effort and this award is recognition for there hard work and commitment to the charity that saves lives at sea.'
